After winning on debut and finishing second at his next two starts including the $45,000 Listed Ray Coupland Stakes in October 2011, he won the $400,000 Group 1 NZ 2000 Guineas at Riccarton in November 2011 – Te Akau’s fourth success in this race in seven years. In January 2012 Rock ‘n’ Pop won the $100,000 Listed Karaka Mile, he raced brilliantly for third in the Group 1 Darci Brahma International WFA against the older horses in February 2012 before being runner up in the $750,000 Group 1 NZ Derby. He won 3 of his starts for prizemoney of $458,000 and was retired to stand at Waikato Stud in early 2013.
