Description
ACE HIGH (AUS) (Black or Brown 2014-Stud 2019). 5 wins-1 at 2-1400m to 2500m, VRC Victoria Derby, Gr.1. Sire of 45 rnrs, 25 wnrs, inc. SW Molly Bloom (New Zealand One Thousand Guineas, Gr.1), Drakaina, SP My Lips are Sealed and of Bezique – Winning Day (H.K.), Bullets High, Espadas, Ballistic Win, Leroy Brown, Tanganyika, Angland, O’Ziggy, Miss Shu, Aces Up, Hollywood Ace, Canny Queen, Jenni Multabella, etc.
- Ace High is a dual Gr. 1 winning son of High Chaparral. His dam is sired by Redoute’s Choice and his grand dam is by Sunday Silence. It is unusual to see three breed shaping stallions so close up in a pedigree.
- Ace High hails from the greatest stallion producing family in modern thoroughbred history, that of Danehill, Northern Dancer, Machiavellian and Halo.
- Ace High will suit the majority of New Zealand broodmares as most of the major pattern nicks are present in his pedigree and can easily be duplicated.
Race Performance
-
- Ace High made an eye catching debut over 1100m at Rosehill in October of his two-year-old season finishing second to subsequent Gr. 1 performer Champagne Cuddles.
- He finished a close fourth in the Gr. 1 Champagne Stakes , before ending his juvenile season on a winning note, defeating subsequent Gr. 1 winner Unforgotten over 1400m.
- Ace High went on to perform at the highest level as a spring three year old. In Sydney he won the Gr. 3 Gloaming stakes and the Gr. 1 Spring Champion Stakes, a sire making race previously won by Savabeel , Dundeel and Danewin.
- Ace High then became just the fourth horse in history to achieve the Spring Champion Stakes- Victoria Derby double. He went within a nose of a historic Australian and Victoria Derby double, a feat last achieved by champions Dulcify in 1979 and Mahogany in 1994.
- He trained on at four displaying an impressive turn of foot to blitz his rivals in the Group 2 Hill Stakes. He also finished second in the Gr. 2 Chelmsford Stakes and placed forth to Winx in the Gr. 1 George Main Stakes.
He retired sound having contested 25 stakes races over three seasons.
