Too Darn Hot, an undefeated Champion Two-Year-Old from the most successful branch of the Mr Prospector sire line, has continued to impress in his third season at stud, showcasing strong success in both hemispheres.

Too Darn Hot is an exceptional sire, achieving record earnings of over AU$12 million in his first two crops to date, with four-time G1-winner Broadsiding among his offspring. He has an impressive 11.5% Stakes winners to runners in the southern hemisphere. This follows his success as a leading sire in Britain, where he has produced notable G1 juveniles Fallen Angel and Hotazhell.

Clear patterns are emerging in the pedigrees of Too Darn Hot’s early performers. His sire, Dubawi, by Mr Prospector’s grandson Dubai Millennium, has a definite affinity with returns of Mr Prospector-line mares. For Too Darn Hot, this nick has been even stronger with several of his group performers demonstrating this pattern, most notably four-time G1 winner Broadsiding who is out of a Street Cry mare.

Too Darn Hot also mirrors Dubawi’s success in crossing well with mares carrying Sadler’s Wells and Danzig (including Danehill).

Best Nicks
Too Darn Hot demonstrates a strong affinity for mares with a return of Mr Prospector in the dam line, with Street Cry line mares also being ideal candidates. Like his sire, he has proven successful with the Danehill line. Mares who carry the bloodlines of Flying Spur, Casino Prince, All Too Hard, Sebring, and More Than Ready are also well-suited for his breeding, as they introduce both Mr Prospector and Danehill into the mating.

A particularly successful nick to replicate is the Dubawi/Galileo cross, which has produced multiple G1 winners, including Modern Games, Ghaiyyath, Night of Thunder, and Coroebus.

Inbreeding / Linebreeding options
Too Darn Hot has a plethora of superior lines in his pedigree, including Delsey and Special, both of whom have already proven to be sources of success.

Line-breeding to Delsy has proven successful to date, seen in G1 winners Fallen Angel and Hotazhell. This can be traced through the great sire Darshaan and his sons and grandsons, including Dalakhani and Reliable Man.

Line-breeding to the mare Special has worked well for Dubawi and is also showing early promise for Too Darn Hot. Special can be found in many lines, including Nureyev, the damsire of Zabeel. Several of Too Darn Hot’s Stakes winners in the southern hemisphere already carry Zabeel in the dam line including Broadsiding, Shanwah and Arabian Summer.
